Thai singer and actor YORCH is only 24 years old, but he’s already had over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry. As a child star in Thailand, he began acting at age 10 and, within a year, earned his first award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in the drama Thong Nuea Kao. Since then, he’s had steady work as an actor, but wanted more for himself. He auditioned to become a K-pop idol in 2018, but due to his acting contracts, he had to place that on hold. He decided to debut as a singer with his solo Thai single, “Seven,” in 2023, before debuting as a member and leader of the group POW under GRID Entertainment that same year.

With POW, YORCH has gained an even larger global ing, hitting the iTunes and Spotify charts in Southeast Asia and Europe. Their recent single album “COME TRUE” ranked in the Top 10 on the Circle and domestic Hanteo charts, and the group has consistently done well in Thailand, YORCH’s home country. Known as the “Nation’s Little Brother,” it’s no surprise he’s well-received there. Now, he released a new solo single – his first since his debut, “Blow Your Mind,” featuring hip-hop/R&B artists Sik-K and Bryan Chase.

“To be honest, I’ve been working on this song on-and-off for the past three years,” YORCH says in Thai over Zoom from the GRID Entertainment offices in Seoul. “Our CEO thought this was a good time to release it. When I was interested in the song, they didn’t yet know who would produce or collaborate on it. I heard it and knew I wanted this song.”

Produced by Diplo and King Henry, “Blow Your Mind” is a smooth, melodic R&B and dream pop track that blends YORCH’s soothing harmonies with K-R&B artists Sik-K and Chase’s steady flow. This has been a dream project for YORCH, who has been interested in the hip-hop and R&B genre for years. He was happy to work with Sik-K and Chase, as they’re well known in that genre. When he was told that Diplo and King Henry were on as producers for the song, he was pleasantly surprised and honored.

MORE FOR YOU

“I was surprised to find out the famous producers Diplo and King Henry came on board,” YORCH says, excitedly. “I normally listen to them. I really them as producers.”

It also allowed him to showcase another side to his artistry. In POW, the group’s image and sound have always centered around being very fresh, young, and energetic. With “Blow Your Mind,” YORCH got to play with R&B, and would love to do more of that style. He admits, “I love hip-hop and R&B’s style so much. I personally would love to do a harder hip-hop/rap style. My songs with POW tend to be softer and more performance-based. We use different kinds of sounds with those songs. With ‘Blow Your Mind,’ it’s much more relaxed when singing, and within the three years in K-pop, I learned so much about how to do that style. I’ve gotten a lot of advice from Korean producers and singing teachers.”

Though he would love to explore more solo music in the future, his focus remains on the group’s comeback and promoting “Blow Your Mind.” He says maybe in the future, revealing that he would love to also do a mix of Thai, Korean, and English songs for an album. As a Thai idol in K-pop, who sings in Thai, English, and Korean, he says it would be fun to do something for his fans everywhere.

“I’ve always wanted to do songs that incorporate the many languages I know,” he explains. “I have fans from everywhere – different countries. If I have a cool concept with it, I would be interested in doing it all.”

Speaking of doing it all, YORCH also stars in the Thai horror film Kijsada Paradise, which he filmed in February of last year and is out in Thailand this week. In Kijsadam Paradise, YORCH plays Ohm, whose friend group visits an abandoned, haunted water park and plays an ill-fated game of hide-and-seek that results in the disappearance and death of Jod, a friend with special needs. Their deceased friend is now haunting them, bent on taking their lives for ruining his. The ultimate test of friendship comes with the group, forcing them to face the consequences of their actions.

YORCH is looking forward to fans seeing the film. He laughs, trying not to spoil it, “Well, in the movie, people are dying. So, please be sure to watch Kijsada Paradise.”

For now, he is happily promoting his single and movie, and plans to work on POW’s next comeback. He does hope to release more solo music in the future. He would love to work with his fellow Thai artist, LISA, if the opportunity arose.

When asked if he’s getting any rest these days in between promotions, YORCH says, happily, “Since I am a singer and in a group, and an actor, I am constantly busy. I always have something to do, but it’s fun.”

YORCH’s “Blow Your Mind” (featuring Sik-K and Bryan Chase) is available on all streaming platforms.
