Born Daveigh Elizabeth Chase-Schwallier on July 24, 1990, in Las Vegas, Chase made her screen debut in a bit part in the series Sabrina the Teenage Witch in 1997. A year later, she played the 8-year-old version of famed actor-director Michael Landon’s daughter, Shawna Landon, in the TV movie Michael Landon, The Father I Knew.

From 1999 to 2000, Chase appeared in guest roles on such hit shows as Charmed, The Practice and ER, and landed the role of Samantha Darko, the sister of Jake Gyllenhaal’s title character in the acclaimed psychological thriller Donnie Darko. Chase reprised the role in the 2009 sequel S. Darko.
After appearing in a string of TV guest roles in 2001, Chase landed the key voice role of Lilo in the 2002 Disney animated classic Lilo & Stitch, and went on to reprise the part in 2003’s video sequel Stitch! The Movie. Chase also voiced Lilo in the video movie Leroy & Stitch in 2006, and voiced the character in Lilo & Stitch: The Series from 2003 to 2006.

In 2002, Chase landed the role ofSamara Morgan — the terrifying specter who first emerges from a well onscreen before she crawls out of a television screen in director Gore Verbinski’s horror thriller The Ring. The role earned Chase an MTV Movie & TV Award for Best Villain in 2003.
The Ring, which also starred Naomi Watts and Brian Cox, was a Hollywood remake of the classic 1998 Japanese horror thriller Ringu.

Overall, Chase appeared in 32 episodes of the series, which also starred Bill Paxton, Chloë Sevigny, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ginnifer Goodwin, Amanda Seyfried and Grace Zabriskie, from 2006 to 2011.
Chase also appeared in the films Yellow and Little Red Wagon in 2012, Transference in 2014, Wild in Blue in 2015 and the TV movie Killer Crush in the same year.
