The Best Flower delivery service will say what words can’t. British Nigerian artist Yinka Ilorisaid it best: “The beauty of flowers lies in their gentle sequence of life: They bud, bloom, and fade away in a continuous cycle of being, and becoming.” I didn’t appreciate flowers until adulthood, when I also learned to appreciate things accountants and ergonomic office chairs. Flowers show up for all of it: births and birthdays, apologies and anniversaries, grief and gratitude. They’re symbols of impermanence, but they make moments feel permanent.

If you’re looking to send a bouquet this Valentine’s Day—whether to a significant other, a loved one, or yourself—these are the best flower delivery services, tested and sniffed by yours truly. From our favorite, The Bouqs Co., which works with sustainable farms, to our latest pick, Lasting Brilliance’s Forever Roses, I’ve ordered them all. And if you’re in the gift-giving mood, check out our other guides, Best Gifts for Women, Gifts for Frequent Travelers, and Our Favorite Valentine’s Day Gifts and Date Ideas.

In This Guide

Updated February 2026: I’ve added Lasting Brilliance’s Forever Roses to our favorites. I also created an Honorable Mentions section that includes more online delivery services worth considering. Prices, links, and information were all updated.

    The Bouqs Co.

The Bouqs Co. works with sustainable farms (certified by Rainforest Alliance and BloomCheck) to deliver fresh, often locally sourced flowers. That means your bouquet might look different from the photo online, but that’s the price of seasonal blooms. I ordered a lovely curation of pink Oriental lilies, pink roses, and red anemones in a textured white vase. The flowers arrived fresh in a recyclable box, minus one or two damaged stems, and the lilies were still in bud form to extend their life; they fully bloomed within three days.

For last-minute gifters, Bouqs offers same-day and next-day delivery. Some best-selling floral designs are the Strawberry Sunset and the Valentine’s Day Arrangement—a bunch of pink and red roses, carnations, and alstroemeria. They truly have a beautiful bouquet for every kind of aesthetic, whether it be moody and dramatic, timeless and elegant, or soft and dreamy. The Bouqs Co. also has a monthly flower subscription starting at $48 per delivery.

    Urban Stems

UrbanStems is the kind of flower delivery service that makes you want to gift yourself bouquets more often. I first received one as a gift and loved it so much that I started using it myself. The Valentine’s Day Collection is designed with elegance, the Passion, a garnet-toned floral arrangement of red roses, anemones, ranunculus, scabiosa, and carnations. I’m also a fan of the company’s collaboration with Vogue: The Dreamscape is a pink and peach medley of roses, anemones, ranunculus, and hypericum flowers, in a bright blue vase. The American Rose is an all-red garden, and the Athena leans into romantic pastels, accented with greenery.

Most flower bouquets arrive in bud form and should last well over a week. UrbanStems also offers add-ons a bottle of wine, candles, and Levain cookies. Ideal for Valentine’s Day, but also if you’re gifting birthday flowers. They offer same-day delivery in DC, NYC, LA, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, and Boston on orders placed before noon local time. Their subscriptions (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) start at $60 per delivery.

1-800-Flowers (Magnificent Roses Single Rose Reveal)

1-800-Flowers is the Amazon of flower delivery—in the sense that there’s almost nothing they don’t offer, including gift sets that aren’t flowers: food baskets, puzzles, and apparel (to name a few). The search filters are fun to browse; I how they categorize their inventory by interests and hobbies. Is your partner a Disney adult? Disney’s Belle Red Roses might be the move. Are they obsessed with the late Betty White? There’s a bouquet for that.

In terms of actual flowers, my Contemporary Hot Pink Roses arrived vibrant but … leaking. This is an obvious downside of flowers shipped in water. While the variety here is unmatched, the quality is decent at best. That said, they’re one of the few services that let you personalize vases, and that’s fun. 1-800 Flowers also sells preserved Magnificent Roses, which last about a year with proper care.

Side note: A few years ago, I sent my fiancé the Valentine’s Love Explosion Cake Gift Box. It comes with a mini red velvet cake and a pop-up of fake roses that quite literally explode out of the box. He still has the box, and you get to have some pretty solid cake.

    Lula’s Garden

If your loved one loves the idea of plants more than the responsibility of keeping them alive, Lula’s Garden is an excellent choice for succulents. A few of us at WIRED have gifted these over the years, and they’re always a hit. The succulents arrive tucked inside a gift box that doubles as the planter, so there’s no need for repotting. The Valentine’s Day Heart Garden is lovely, and it comes with a teeny water dropper. It’s a low-maintenance gift that sticks around longer than a bouquet and feels way more thoughtful.

    Ode à la Rose

    Danielle

    $92

    Ode à la Rose

Ode à la Rose sends fresh flowers that feel a love letter. The company was started by two aspiring bankers from France, Louis and Olivier, who eventually ditched finance to bring some Parisian romance to the US. They source their florals and foliage from eco-conscious farms in Ecuador, Colombia, and Europe, so you’re getting peak-season.

I ordered the Edith bouquet, a hand-tied bunch of frilly Columbus double tulips. The beautiful flowers arrived fresh, they’d just been plucked from a field in Holland. The stems were clipped to a neat 15 inches, hydrated in a travel vase, and packed inside the brand’s signature pink box. Delivery is fast and reliable nationwide, with same-day options in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin, Miami, and Washington, DC.

Lasting Brilliance (Blush Affection 2-Dozen Roses In Pink Heart Box)

Lasting Brilliance’s Forever Roses make for stunning centerpieces. They are preserved, high-quality roses that last up to three years (without water) in the proper environment. Roses come in red, pink, purple, sapphire blue, and champagne, presented in either a square, cylinder, or heart-shaped gift box. The boxes come in all sorts of prints, including marble, chrome, and gold. And if you’re looking to send birthday or sympathy flowers, Lasting Brilliance also offers Forever Flower Bouquets with preserved hydrangeas, rice flowers, and chrysanthemums.

The company ships nationwide, excluding APO and FPO addresses and PO boxes. They don’t require refrigeration or reserved delivery dates, and they come carefully packaged and ready for display. This is a fabulous choice if you want to send flowers that are almost guaranteed not to get damaged during shipping.

Honorable Mentions

The Sill Pink Watercolor Orchids in small containers

Courtesy of The Sill

The Sill Pink Watercolor Orchid for $79: Not everyone wants flowers. The Sill specializes in potted plants, including orchids, fruit trees, and succulents. It even offers faux plants for those with pets or who prefer low-maintenance care. I love how they carry unique seasonal finds, a Genoa lemon tree, an olive tree, or a Texas pink pomegranate tree. The Sill also offers plant subscriptions, including a pet-friendly option for nontoxic flora.

Proflowers Sweet As Can Be Bouquet for $60: Proflowers sells a selection of flowers for a variety of occasions, from retirement to housewarming. They offer same-day delivery for certain orders, hand-delivered from local flower shops. For other orders, they’re packaged to withstand a one to two-day delay. Unfortunately, that means they’re shipped in water (and a lot of it), which is prone to leaks and spillage. My flowers also came bloomed and blossomed, which is something to consider if you prefer yours still budding.

From You Flowers You Are My Heart for $60: From You Flowers reminds me of 1-800-Flowers in terms of variety. Beyond flowers and plants, they also offer gift baskets, baked goods, and teddy bears. The You Are My Heart is a cherry-red bunch of roses, carnations, and mini carnations, in a clear glass vase, wrapped in a red ribbon. It’s a stunning bouquet for Valentine’s Day, but mine did arrive fully bloomed. It also does ship in water, which is not my favorite method of shipping.

Image may contain Plant Citrus Fruit Food Fruit Orange Produce and Person

Courtesy of Via Citrus

Via CitrusCalamondin for $70: What if you didn’t send just flowers, but sent flowers that turn into fruit? Via Citrus’ goal is to make it easier to grow your own fruit tree, even if you don’t have a yard or large space. The seedlings are all grown for about nine months before they’re shipped. They’re not so young that they’ll wilt away during shipping, but they still have plenty of room to grow once you get them. I got a calamondin (a unique fruit that’s a cross between a mandarin orange and a kumquat) delivered to my door, and it took just over a week after it shipped to get to my house in San Diego. My little tree wasn’t too much larger than an elaborate bouquet, and while it has just a handful of flowers, it smelled great from the moment I unboxed it. It traveled well in its little box, and the soil was still a touch damp. These little trees can thrive indoors or outdoors, but if it gets cold where you live, be ready to bring the tree inside when cold weather comes back around. Nena Farrell

Unwilted Peony for Your Thoughts: Handcrafted Paper Peony Bouquet for $110: Watching a hundred-dollar bouquet shrivel and die within five days is the definition of heartbreak. That’s why I adore Unwilted. Its bouquets look better as the years go on. The petals are made of Italian crepe paper, hand-cut, painted, and shaped by artists. The florals are also built on flexible wire stems, so you can adjust the height or spread them out. I ordered the Peony for Your Thoughts, which is curated of three tones of peonies—ivory, pale pink, and cotton candy pink—complemented with greenery. Keep them out of direct sunlight unless you’d a soft fade, and if you’re gifting to a perfectionist, a spritz of UV protectant spray will keep them pristine. To clean, hit them with a cool hair dryer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How We Test

I ordered from each service mentioned, evaluating freshness, longevity, and overall aesthetic. I took note of any damaged or wilting flowers, prioritizing blooms that were still budding. Careful (and lovely) packaging is an essential. Ideally, the bouquet is delivered in a durable vase or gift box and without water to avoid any accidents and leakage.

Delivery speed and reliability are key factors; bonus points if the company offers same-day and next-day delivery. I prefer services with seamless online shopping and checkout experiences, and those that provide nationwide shipping. Note that some companies will rely on local florists, meaning the bouquet you receive may not exactly match the photo online. Those should be explicitly mentioned if so.
